Eric Haupt Viking October 11, 2008
Hello Susan and law enforcement friends. The title to this homage is "Viking" because Brad and I graduated from Vanden High School and the mascot was the Viking. He exemplified the standard of this title as Brad was a force to be reckoned with and a leader of men. Brad held the title of K-9 and beat officer while at the Richmond Police Department, but he was a leader among us without a given rank. It was easy to see that Brad loved to work, but his heart was always with Susan and his daughters. He was a hero in every sense of the word--noble , polite, and brave. I remember meeting Brad on his first day as a street cop. I overheard him telling another fellow officer he had graduated from Vandan High School. That got my attention and we began to talk about similar teachers we had and playing sports. It was as though I was talking with a classmate although we had never met. When Brad told me what year he had graduated from high school, I was floored. How can such a young man take on such a demanding job? And am I really that old now? Brad proved that he was mature beyond his years and fully capable of taking on this job. He learned so fast it was amazing. I remember being on the probationary review board when Brad was itching to get out on the street on his own. Doug Hembree, his FTO, said it best during this meeting by saying, "It was a pleasure teaching him." As a former trainee of Doug's , I know those words have never come out of his mouth before. Brad was a pleasure to work with and it is my honor to have worked beside him. Susan, Brad will never be forgotten by any of us.

My sincere condolences to the entire Moody family and the RPD.

Susan,
I had the pleasure of meeting you at our high school reunion last year. Brad was a very close friend of mine growing up. I am very sorry we grew apart. Seeing him last year brought back so many great memories. I am very sorry for your loss. I wish I could say or do more to help you through this. My family's thoughts and prayers are with you and your daughters.

Brad, you will always be a part of my fondest memories. I love you. I will miss you.

To Susan, and the entire Moody family,

I wish to extend my deepest condolences.   I had the honor of working alongside Brad on several occasions, and he always struck me as one of Richmond's finest.  Brad had an exceptional work ethic exemplified by the amazing results of his crime-fighting efforts.  He had a certain quiet strength, and he was always positive, no matter what the situation.  His influence on all those with whom he worked was incredible and infectuous.

My only regret is that I did not have the opportunity to work with him more closely.

Brad

I miss you so much.  I am so happy I was able to work with you for the past six years.  You being one of the first friends I made on the department, you made it clear what an extended law enforcement family is.  I'll miss our talks.  My family and I are looking forward to moving to your city, on your street.  I look forward to watching the friendship my two girls build with yours.  You will never be forgotten.  You are my brother and I love you.....

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Moody family and the Richmond PD family.  It is a great loss to all mankind when we lose any law enforcement officer.   I did not know Brad Moody, but I work with men and women like him in a city like Richmond.  He went to work everyday to make a difference and he will be missed by all.
