When I heard of this tragic event, my heart just fell into pieces. Brad was a significant part of my life for four years. We lost contact over the years, but a day never went by without thoughts of how he was doing. I was blessed to have known him in the capacity as I did. He was a marvelous man, and touched everyone that knew him. Susan, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your children. Brad was so blessed to have you as his life companion. May God watch over you and your children.

I would like to send my deepest condolences to the entire Moody family. Its been years since I have spoken with or seen Brad, but I can remember being kids playing on the same baseball team with him and having his dad as our coach. Brad was a good kid with nothing bad to say about anybody. You will be missed but never forgotten, and may God be with your family in their time of need.

Brad,
I walked into work on Saturday and was floored when I heard the news. It couldn't be true...we had just talked! Since I met you in the academy, you were a friend, a role model, and a mentor. I was so proud of you when you got hired by Richmond. I enjoyed hearing your stories while I was stuck working graves in the jail. You went from the 'young kid' in the academy to a superstar Richmond cop just starting your new family.
I will miss you buddy...

A Hero Is...
One who never hesitates to tackle the most difficult problems.
One who is always by your side.
One who knows right from wrong.
One who acts with pride.
A HERO touches every one of us,
whether it be word or deed...
Always tending to those who find themselves in need.
When a HERO leaves this earth, yes, it sad but true,
All too many times, the HERO's dressed in blue.
Posthumously Dedicated with Eternal Gratitude
To Those Who Have Fallen While Serving Beneath The Badge.

You will missed by all.
Guardians Of The Night
Trust in me my friend for I am
your comrade. I will protect you
with my last breath When all
others have left you And the
loneliness of the night closes
in, I will be at your side.
Together we will conquer all
obstacles, And search out
those who might wish harm to
others. All I ask of you is
compassion, The caring touch
of your hands. It is for you that I
will unselfishly give my life And
spend my nights unrested.
Although our days together
May be marked by the passing
of the seasons Know that each
day at your side is my reward.
My days are measured by The
coming and going of your
footsteps. I anticipate them at
every opening of the door. You
are the voice of caring when I
am ill. The voice of authority
when I've done wrong.
Do not chastise me unduly For
I am your right arm, The sword
at your side. I attempt to do
only what you bid of me. I seek
only to please you and remain
in your favor.
Together you and I shall
experience A bond only others
like us will understand When
outsiders see us together Their
envy will be measured by their
disdain.
I will quietly listen to you And
pass no judgment, Nor will your
spoken words be repeated I will
remain ever silent, Ever vigilant,
ever loyal. And when our time
together is done And you move
on in the world Remember me
with kind thoughts and tales,
For a time we were unbeatable,
Nothing passed among us
undetected.
If we should meet again on
another street I will gladly take
up your fight, I am a Police
Working Dog and together We
are guardians of the night.

Officer Moody...You took me on my first Richmond ridealong as a new DDA. I overheard the sgt. telling you to "take it easy" since you had a DA with you. As I tried to keep up, pretending I wasn't terrified as we ran from "shots fired" call to "shots fired" call, I remember thinking, "THIS is taking it EASY??" But after only a few months of working with you, it was clear that you didn't have a "slow down take it easy" mode at work. If you were doing it, it was 110%. Your courage, compassion, determination, and love for your job and your family will be so greatly missed. We're all blessed for the time we had with you. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, and the RPD family.

I am trying to figure out the words of what I would like to say but can't find the right words. He was very important to me, through high school and beyond. We kept in contact after I moved away and Brad was always "my boy" and I visited him for years after high school. This message is to Susan, my heart hurts for you and your girls. He loved you soo much, that is for sure. I feel honored to have been a part of his life.

To Susan and her beautiful daughters-
My husband has been with Alameda County Sheriff's Office for 1 year today. I have learned that law enforcement is a family. It doesn't matter what department you work for, you have thousands of brothers and sisters around you. I have no idea the level of grief you are going through. I can only tell you that your husband has touched my life as well as my family. He truly is a hero. He will never know the amount of lives he has touched. Just remember that you have him living through your children. Grab them tight and let them know together you all will be able to get through it. I am so sorry for your loss and I wish you and your girls the best. May God watch over your family.
Take care-

We just want you to know that you and the memory of Brad are forever in our hearts. The last time we saw him was before we moved to Turkey back in 2002, but he was a constant in our family for over four years and he was truly loved and will be missed. We have a lot of great memories and will always hold them close. Brad, Quincy still remembers the driving lesson you gave him when he was 3 in the parking lot of SCC. He still remembers how you let him talk on the radio and showed him all the lights on the patrol car too. And think, he will be 13 soon. Susan, my heart aches for you and your little girls so much. Brad was a such an amazing person, and we are so sorry for your loss.
